The Lakewood Ranch High girls golf team opened its season with a 179-204 victory over Braden River Sept. 8 at Waterlefe Golf & River Club.
Junior Linda Luo shot 36 to lead the way for the Lady Mustangs. Brooke Mark shot 45. Ali Murdock shot 48 and Courtney Caster shot 50.
Junior Kristin Swindell shot 37 to lead the way for the Lady Pirates (1-1). Katie Booth shot 55 followed by Alexis Golemo (56), McKenzie Hanlon (56) and Jessica Sondey (56).
Lakewood and Braden River both return to action Sept. 10. The Lady Mustangs will travel to Southeast while the Lady Pirates will travel to Cardinal Mooney.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
