East County rivals Braden River and Lakewood Ranch clash on the gridiron tonight in the season opener for both teams. The Mustangs are looking for their third straight win over the Pirates while Braden River coach Curt Bradley is looking for his first regular season win as a head coach. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Lakewood.
The Booker and Sarasota High football teams open the season with a non-district match up tonight. The Sailors host the Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. Last season Sarasota beat Booker 17-12.
Riverview opens its season at home tonight against Palmetto, which reached the state semifinals last season. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
