The East Manatee Bulldogs Mitey Mite team opened its 2012 season with a 33-19 victory over its crosstown rival the Manatee Wildcats Aug. 25.
Ethan Bement rushed for more than 130 yards and scored two touchdowns and Josiah Lozada rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown to lead the way for the Bulldogs offensively.
Kevin Miller finished with more than 200 all-purpose yards, including a touchdown and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. AJ Russo added a fumble recovery for the defense.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
