Tevin Bryant powers Pirates past Rams
The Braden River High football team entered tonight’s spring game against Riverview filled with energy, emotion and high expectations.
It was the Pirates first time back on the gridiron since their historic playoff run, and after four quarters it appears as if Braden River’s hard work ethic has paid off. Led by junior tailback Tevin Bryant, the Pirates racked up 377 yards of total offense on their way to a 35-20 victory over the Rams.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Pirates took a 14-0 lead on a 1-yard touchdown run by Bryant and a 38-yard touchdown pass from Stephen Fischer to Sharrod Neasman. The Rams responded with four seconds left in the first half on a 60-yard pass from Travis Tristchler to Jeremy Jones.
The Pirates found the end zone three times in the third quarter on a 9-yard touchdown run by Bryant, a 29-yard touchdown pass from Fischer to Neasman and a 2-yard touchdown run by Jarrod Pate, extending their lead to 29.
With their first-team offense still on the field against Braden River’s second-team defense, the Rams scored twice in the fourth quarter, but the Pirates rushing attack proved to be too much for Riverview to handle.
