+ Lady Sailors earn berth in regional tourney
The Sarasota High softball team earned a berth in the Class 7A-Region 3 tournament with a 9-3 victory over Manatee in the Class 7A-District 11 semifinals April 16.
The Lady Sailors pounded out 13 hits and drew 10 walks to advance to the district championship April 18, where they fell to Braden River 1-0.
As the district runner-up, Sarasota traveled to Okeechobee for a Region 3 quarterfinal game April 24.
+ Lady Rams’ season ends in semifinals
The Riverview High softball team saw its season come to an end with a 7-4 loss to Tarpon Springs East Lake in the Class 8A-District 8 semifinals April 16.
The Lady Rams finished the season 17-8. Seniors Courtney Kelly and Victoria Graves played their final game in a Riverview uniform.
Cardinal Mooney High seniors
Six Cardinal Mooney High seniors signed national letters of intent to play at the next level during a signing ceremony April 17.
Patrick Heuler (College of Charleston) and Austin Bingham (South Florida Community College) will continue their baseball careers.
Chase Ostermann (Lynn University) and Jack Sorensen (Methodist University) signed lacrosse scholarships.
Hanna McMahon (Jacksonville University) will play sand volleyball, and Kayla Scofield (Ave Maria University) signed a softball scholarship.
