+ Bees bring Senior Night to a halt
The Lakewood Ranch High versus The Out-of-Door Academy non-district baseball game April 18 was stopped in the fourth inning due to bees on an adjacent field.
The Thunder held a 10-3 advantage over the Mustangs, who were celebrating their Senior Night.
Jake Romine had a bases-loaded clearing double, and Tyler Diertrich had a bases-loaded clearing triple to power the Thunder at the plate.
+ Mustangs to hold golf scramble
The Lakewood Ranch High boys golf team will host its second annual State Champions Scramble May 19, at the Royal Lakes Course of the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club.
The tournament, which will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., will honor the Mustangs 2012 state championship team.
The cost of the event is $400 and includes green fees and cart fees, a buffet dinner, participation in several contests and tee gifts.
Several current and former Lakewood boys and girls players will be available “for purchase” as part of the Fifth Man Auction. Bidding begins at $50.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the boys golf team.

Palm-Aire Women’s Tennis Team
Palm-Aire Country Club captured the Women’s 8.0 Division title during the USTA Florida Adult 65 & Over League Section Championships April 12 through April 14, at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach.
Palm-Aire won its No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches to defeat Collier County in the finals.
Championship players include: Camy Jensen, Donna Nunes, Lee Richard, Cathy Stutzman, Judith Lubbers, Susie Dunn Lentile, Olga Felland, Darlene Winterrowd, Janet Hepner, Judith Hahn, Brigitte Bressler and Brenda Mertz.
