The Gulf Coast Flames Bantam AA team finished the season as the National Runners-Up after falling to the Indianapolis Racers in the USA Hockey Tier-II 16 and Under National Championship game April 11.
The Flames easily won every game on their way to the National Championship, earning the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The team’s 7-4 loss to the Racers was its only loss of the tournament.
The Flames train and host all of their home games at the Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex. The team finished as this year’s State Champion was finished as the National Champion in 2008. The Bantam AA division is made up of 14 year old with the majority of last year’s championship team playing again this year.
