The Braden River High baseball team went 2-0 in the Jody Freidman Preseason Baseball Classic this past week, at G.T. Bray Park.
On Feb. 5, the Pirates defeated Palmetto 13-3 in five innings. Pitcher Brooks Norton earned the win for Braden River. Norton also hit a three-run homerun. Justin Phillips notched three hits and drove in four runs.
On Feb. 8, Braden River knocked off rival Lakewood Ranch 11-7. Eric Schappacher earned the win for the Pirates. Dylan Lee hit a three-run homerun off former Braden River pitcher Garrett Schultz to lead the way for Braden River at the plate.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
