The Out-of-Door Academy and Sarasota Christian girls soccer teams both won their Class 1A-District 8 quarterfinal matches Jan. 15.
The Lady Thunder blanked Canterbury 6-0. Melanie Mason scored a pair of goals and Juliet Onufrak, Skylar Jungers, Alli Gentile and Elana Ciaccio each added a goal for ODA.
Sarasota Christian defeated Northside Christian 3-1. Kelsey Murphy, Taylor Smith and Danielle Buncik each scored goals for the Lady Blazers.
ODA and Sarasota Christian will now advance to the district semifinals Jan. 17. ODA will host Shorecrest Prep and Sarasota Christian will face top-seed St. Stephen’s. Both games will be held at ODA.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
