The Braden River High girls basketball team finished 2-1 in the Holiday Tournament Dec. 27-29.
The Lady Pirates opened the tournament with a 51-46 loss to Steinbrenner, who was ranked No. 10 in the state at the time. Cheyenne Ogline finished with 16 points and seven steals and Kelly Logan added 11 points to pace Braden River.
On Dec. 28, Braden River rebounded with a 48-43 victory over Gulf High. Ogline had 17 points to lead the way for the Lady Pirates. Alexis Stout added eight points and eight rebounds. Kiki Mitchell finished with six points and 16 rebounds.
The Lady Pirates closed out the tournament with a 41-37 victory over Wiregrass Dec. 29. Erica Glisson and Logan scored nine points apiece and Stout added eight points to lead the way for Braden River.
Braden River returns to action Jan. 10 versus Booker.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
