The East Manatee Bulldogs Midget cheerleading squad finished fifth in the nation in the Advanced Division of the Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships Dec. 11 at Disney's Wide World of Sports.
The squad, ranging in age from 12-14, competed against teams from across the country and earned its best finish in the program’s history. Prior to advancing to Nationals, the squad placed first at the Southeast Regional Competition.
The members of the squad are Lauren O'Neal,Gianna Traylor, Cydney Parker,Cassie Zec, Taylor Townsend, Jessica Linnel, Lea Jennings, Kaila Snowden, Rachel Putnam, Whitney and Courtney Brinson, Eden Chick, Skye Reynolds, Rionna Carrabia, Cassidy Neider, Natalie Fonseca, Nili Lozano.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
