The Lakewood Ranch-Sarasota Elks Lodge 2855 was among several Elks area lodges to hold a special barbecue lunch for veterans, their families and the staff at Pay Pines Hospital recently.
This year, 72 Elk members visited the facility, traveling, in total, more than 6,500 miles and donating more than $5,000 in food and other contributions. Elks members also donated more than 500pairs of socks and undershirts to the hospital.
