Dentistry for Children and Adolescents’ Dr. Maribel Santos-Cordero and Sarasota Center for General Dentistry’s Dr. Francisco Marcano are asking for children to donate their Halloween candy to troops overseas.
Those who donate will be entered into a drawing to win an iPod.
The candy will be donated to the American Legion, Kirby Post, and the distributed to troops for the holidays. People also may enter by writing a card or letter.
Donations will be accepted through Nov. 5 at 7315 Merchant Court, Suite A., Lakewood Ranch.

The 11 students in Carol Beatty’s VPK class said goodbye to their new friends — the butterflies they have had in their classroom and for which they have cared since the insects were caterpillars — during butterfly release day.
