East County residents celebrated Rosh Hashanah with a festive holiday meal sponsored by Temple Emanu-El Sept. 16 at the Lakewood Ranch Country Club.
Guests recited the Hebrew holiday blessings and enjoyed a traditional Rosh Hashanah meal that included matzah ball soup and roast chicken. Each table also held a round challah, eaten on Rosh Hashanah, to represent wholeness and fullness, and apples and honey to symbolize a sweet new year.
Temple Emanu-El leaders and Lakewood Ranch residents Sharyn Nassau and Lynn Sacks chaired the event. For more information about Temple Emanu-El’s programs in East County, call 371-2788.
