The East County Observer and Synovus Bank are hosting an essay contest to help celebrate the 15th anniversary of the first home sold in Lakewood Ranch.
Just tell us what you love most about living in Lakewood Ranch, and you will be entered to win one of five $100 savings accounts from Synovus Bank!
The contest is open to all third- through fifth-graders, middle-schoolers and high-schoolers.
Essays must meet or exceed the following word counts: third grade (80 words); fourth grade (125 words); fifth grade (225 words); middle school (400 words); and high school (500 words).

More than 50 boys, ranging in age from fifth through ninth grade, hit the court for Cardinal Mooney High’s annual boys basketball camp June 18. The camp began June 17 and runs through June 20. Over the course of the four-day camp, participants learned the basic fundamentals that are essential to the game of basketball. Players focused on shooting, ball handling, passing, footwork, concepts of teamwork and defense while improving their overall basketball IQ.
