Instead, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center knocked out windows to bring the new Philips Intera 1.5 Tesla MRI in through the sidewall. NDC Construction was on site June 4 to remove the windows, and the new machine arrived Monday.

Hospital officials say the new equipment will bring significant enhancements to technology available at the medical center. The MRI will enable patients to have more advanced procedures in-house.
