Braden River High School student Ryan Morrissey, 16, recently earned the highest rank possible in the Boy Scouts of America organization during a special Eagle Ceremony May 2 at Camp Flying Eagle.
Morrissey has completed 116 community service hours since 2009 alone, and has earned 21 merit awards for services rendered in Florida. He also has built an information kiosk that is now placed in Manatee State Park, among other projects.
“There were a lot of times he wanted to give up, but he kept going,” his mother Debra Morrissey says. “I’m very proud of him.”
