Summerfield residents Rossana and Paul Schmidt have something to brag about — their daughter, Mara, a tennis player, is making a hit at Purdue University.
In Purdue’s Position No. 1 in doubles and Position No. 3 in singles, Mara helped her teammates win the Big Ten Championship for the first time in the school’s history in late April.
Mara, who attended the Nick Bolletierri Tennis Academy of IMG Academy for four years and will be a junior at Purdue next fall, received the Big Ten Athlete of the Week award in 2011, as well.
