APRIL FOOLS — Enticed by Denny’s recurring free Grand Slam Breakfast offer, Lakewood Ranch resident and famed sportsman Dick Vitale has jumped off the Broken Egg bandwagon in favor of two eggs, two sausages, two bacon strips and two pancakes.

Vitale, famous locally for eating at the same breakfast restaurant every day, says the economy forced the switch. Denny’s corporate offices have not yet approved Vitale’s request for a merchandise display at the front of the restaurant, so for now, he will be selling his books right from his table.
