East County ladies were the leaders of a “sweet” fundraiser held in December for Temple Emanu-El Religious School. Sponsored by Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood, the event was a dessert auction featuring homemade treats prepared by temple members of all ages. From a Star of David-shaped apple cake to frosted dreidel gingerbread cookies to a decadent bread pudding, each item drew spirited bidding under the guidance of auctioneer Rabbi Brenner Glickman.
In addition to providing a festive and delicious afternoon, the dessert auction raised more than $1,200 for scholarship and educational programs at Temple Emanu-El Religious School.
Dessert auction Co-Chairwomen were Carole Friedman and Linda Weiss of East County. Other key volunteers included Lakewood Ranch residents and featured bakers Joan Blum, Cin Gilburne, Susan Mallitz, Lynn Sacks and Mollie Sernau.
