Fifty-two seniors walked across the stage Saturday, June 1, at the 15th Out–of-Door Academy commencement. The class of 2013 passed one of life’s milestones as friends and family took photographs and clapped.

The Gene Witt Elementary “orff”estra and chorus performed a special concert May 23 for Lexi Brown, a classmate who was killed in January by her father. Brown, a fifth grader at Gene Witt when she died, played the steel drum and soprano xylophone in the school’s after-school musical group.

Education and golf enthusiasts joined forced May 17, as they hit the golf course for the Phil Galvano Golf Classic, at The Legacy Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch.
Members and guests of the Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club ventured Dec. 4 to Orlando, to view holiday decorations at the Grand Floridian and to have lunch at Downtown Disney.
The Play Readers of the Asolo Repertory Theatre Guild were in fine form as they entertained at the Art Association of Palm-Aire’s opening winter luncheon with “Fractured Fairy Tales.”
Catapulting into first place
Seven Manatee County elementary schools competed in the countywide Technology Student Association catapult competition Nov. 16, at Southeast High School. Students built the catapults on-site.
