State releases FCAT results

Although 2009 FCAT scores show mixed results, overall, East County students outperformed the state average in most areas, according to results released by the Florida Department of Education last week.

The Out-of-Door Academy held its 11th Commencement May 30 in the Petrik Thunderdome on the Lakewood Ranch campus. Forty-five members of the Class of 2009 accepted diplomas.

Donning caps and gowns, seniors at Braden River High School piled into the Manatee Civic Center May 30 for their graduation ceremony. The Class of 2009 is the first group of students to complete all four years at the high school.
