As one last hurrah for Tara Elementary's fifth-grade students, the children competed against the school's faculty members and alumni in a kickball game, June 9, on a field tucked in the back of the East County school. The adults defeated the soon-to-be middle school students, 7-6.

Thirty-four Kiddie Academy of Lakewood Ranch voluntary prekindergarten students officially moved up a grade during a graduation ceremony June 4, at the Holiday Inn Sarasota-Lakewood Ranch. Teachers each chose two of their students to read a "Pete the Cat" book while the other students performed a skit for the audience.
