Representatives of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team will score big with the Manatee County School Board July 27 when they will donate more than $10,500 to support education in Manatee County.
The money being donated was earned from a benefit game between the Pirates and the Manatee Community College Lancers on April 2. This year, the proceeds from the annual event were split evenly between the Manatee Education Foundation and Wakeland Elementary School.
The school board meeting starts at 5:45 p.m., July 27, at the School Support Center, 215 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. The Pirate’s mascot is expected to make an appearance.
