Two East County schools nabbed top overall honors at the state Technology Student Association Conference this weekend.
Falling behind Southeast High School, Lakewood Ranch High’s team won second place Overall High School honors.
Haile Middle School finished in third place for Overall Middle School.
These awards are cumulative awards that represent superior performance for all categories entered.
The Manatee County School District was also represented by Buffalo Creek, Braden River, Harlee, Johnson, Lincoln, Nolan and Sugg middle schools, and Braden River and Manatee high schools. Competing in a total of 74 events, Manatee’s students took home 86 top three finishes and a total of more than 607 top 10 student finishes.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
