- What is wrong with privatization of schools. Many teachers work less than 1/2 a year and still make more than your average person working a whole year. I have known of a teacher who held a job for something to do until his inheritance came in. I watch public school's attendance drop annually, and where are they going. A school near me closed one elementary school for remodelling and the teachers were screaming they needed aids to help them with 24 students per class. Maybe it is time to break a bad union.
- No one should be "incensed" FCAT grading did not focus on spelling and grammar. It was and should be a content piece. It is written by 4th, 8th, and 10th graders in 45 minutes, clearly, it is a DRAFT of a paper. Anyone who writes will tell you content should come first, then the details of conventions. Anyone who expects comma usage, or (gasp) semicolons to be used in a draft must understand that skill is not automatic in children (or most adults). A 45 minute draft should be graded by content. This change in how the FCAT was graded is a direct effort to TRY to lower the scores to push privatization of education in Florida.
