- The appropriate way to deal with new information that could alter the vote is to postpone the decision until the entire board can review and assess the information. A losing no vote accomplishes nothing. It is simply a political statement. If a viable alternative plan is available, give the board time to analyze it and propose it at a later date. This would actually accomplish the desired change, not simply make a statement.
