Main Street eateries battle with BBQ

East County residents gathered on Lakewood Ranch Main Street for the first Main Street Restaurant Cook-off June 27. Starting at 3 p.m., Main Street eateries put out their tasty barbecue-style creations — everything from pulled pork and ribs to sturgeon — for attendees to sample before casting their votes for the best barbecue dish. Festivities also included pony rides, live music and other activities.
Community Fund serves plateful of fun

East County residents served up a plateful of fun during the Tahitian Adventure Interactive Dinner June 26. Guests enjoyed drinks and appetizers before piling into the ballroom at Polo Grill and Bar for a three course meal that the guests prepared themselves under the direction of Polo Grill owner and chef Tommy Klauber and restaurant staff. The event raised money for the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund.
