The Food Bank of Manatee today will host its Empty Bowls luncheon, allowing East County residents to fill up on savory soups while supporting charity.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, at Lakewood Ranch Main Street.
Tickets cost $20 each and include unique ceramic bowl to keep, a selection of soups and fresh bread. The simple meal symbolizes the hunger struggle within the community.
The Empty Bowls luncheon is the primary fundraiser each year of The Food Bank of Manatee.
