Science, engineering, math and science programs at Manatee County Public Schools recently received another boost.
For the fourth consecutive year, Lockheed Martin Corp. has donated $100,000 to the school district for these type of programs.
“Lockheed Martin is a great friend to education in Manatee County,” said Mary Glass, director of the Manatee Education Foundation.
Last year, Lockheed Martin sponsored the Science and Engineering Fair, at which more than 200 students from sixth to 12th grade competed for awards in various categories. The company also sponsored an annual Space Day program involving Kinnan and Abel elementary schools, as well as the local Technology Student Association’s District Competition held at Lakewood Ranch High School.
