Attention East County students: Little Bookworms on Lakewood Ranch Main Street is rewarding good grades.
Through July 15, children in grades kindergarten through 12 can bring their report cards to receive 50 cents in store credit for each “A” on their final report cards. The maximum credit issued will be $3 per child and can be used toward any item in the store. The offer only applies to either fourth quarter or final grades in each subject.

Rosedale
Rosedale Golf and Country Club is now accepting participants for its Patriot Day Golf Tournament Aug. 22 at the club, 5100 87th St. E.
The tournament will have an 8: 30 a.m. start and will be a four-person scramble format with three divisions — men, women and mixed.
Cost is $50 per person, and tournament is limited to the first 120 to sign up.

University Park
“Let it Rain” was the theme of for the University Park Women’s Club’s Luncheon and General Meeting June 17 at the University Club in downtown Sarasota.
The tables were decorated with brightly colored rain hats adorned with colorful silk flowers. There were also different colored travel umbrellas as favors for each attendee.
The business meeting included a vote on by-law changes as well as the installation of officers for the coming year. Outgoing President Gail Schaeffer installed the new executive board and committee chairmen. She then presented the incoming President Jan Wallace with the president’s gavel.
Bob Harrigan, chief meteorologist for ABC Channel 7, gave a talk about his background and experiences.
