The Manatee County School District's new committee for developing specific guidelines for naming school board facilities or property hosted its first meeting today.

The new committee formed after multiple requests to name district facilities or property after district employees or local citizens who have made significant contributions to education in Manatee . The committee will design and define the procedures and standards for future naming requests.

School board members Harry Kinnan, Jane Pfeilsticker and Barbara Harvey — who serve as the board’s School Naming Committee — are expected to participate in the newly formed committee.
