Manatee County Public Works Department will close 63rd Avenue between 33rd Street East and Prospect Road for six months beginning May 12. The project will completely replace an aged bridge.
At 33rd Street East, eastbound traffic will be routed south to Whitfield Avenue then back north to 63rd Avenue just east of the work site. Likewise, westbound traffic will be routed south along 63rd Avenue, west along Whitfield and then north on 33rd Street East. The temporary reroute amounts to a two-mile detour.
The project is scheduled for completion by Nov. 11.
