Ron Turner has taken the position of executive director of Manatee County Habitat for Humanity, the organization announced this morning.
“I am excited to be part of this wonderful organization and look forward to helping Manatee Habitat build the organizational infrastructure necessary to build more houses for families in need,” Turner said.
Before his newest role, Turner served as deputy chief of staff and district director U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, vice president for governmental issues and economic development with the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and as an elected official in DeSoto County.
“After a thorough search, the Board feels confident that Ron is the right choice for leading our Habitat for Humanity affiliate as it reaches for bigger goals,” said Manatee Habitat Board President Mike Kennedy. “We look forward to what the organization will be able to achieve with his experience leading nonprofit and governmental organizations.”
Manatee Habitat is completing the final homes at Washington Park, a 12-home subdivision in Palmetto and will go on to build at Cortez Landings — a community of more than 50 homes in Bradenton.
Manatee County Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical, Christian, volunteer-based organization dedicated to building homes in partnership with low-income families who need safe, decent, affordable housing. For more information, visit www.manateehabitat.org.
