Lakewood Ranch Little League to fight for sponsorship signs

Representatives of the Lakewood Ranch Little League will testify before the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners today, in hopes of keeping the league's sponsorship signs at its facility.
League President David Dees is expected to plea his case at 11 a.m. today, after the league was notified by the Manatee County Parks and Recreation Department that its sponsorship signs do not meet county standards.
County crews, he said, are slated to remove signs on the property Feb. 16, the league's opening day.
"(The board of directors) has spent considerable time assuring that these signs are attractive, consistent, safe, and profitable," Dees said in an email to parents about the situation. "They are categorically our most reliable source of revenue and offer the greatest opportunity for growth."
