Florida Sen. Bill Galvano is taking up the cause of the Willowbrook community, in the East County.
The legislator met with homeowners and toured homes in the neighborhood Friday, Feb. 1. Residents are concerned about construction-related issues in their homes, and have lobbied the community's developer, KB Homes, for repairs, which are under way.
A group of homeowners also is looking to establish a lemon law for housing to provide homeowners more protection from poor construction.
Galvano said he is meeting with representatives of KB Homes and also has requested information from state agencies to better assess the situation.
"There's a real problem here," Galvano said, after touring homes. "It's not a single building or a single-issue problem."
