Friends and family of Levi Dakin host the Levi Dakin "Believing in the Cure" Ranch Rodeo fundraiser this weekend.
The rodeo will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 4, at Circle S Rodeo Arena, 32450 Clay Gully Road, Myakka City. Festivities include a ranch rodeo competition, boot scramble, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, barbecue and more.
Gates open at 10:30 a.m. for early registration of the live auction. Admission is $10 for individuals ages 12 and up and $5 for children ages 6 to 11. Children under 5 years old are free.
All proceeds will benefit the Levi Dakin Trust to support Dakin as he continues to battle brain cancer.
Dakin was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September 2011 and has completed six weeks of treatment, with more to follow. The family is expecting the birth of their third child in four weeks.
Donations also are being accepted the day of the event. They also can be mailed to the Levi Dakin Trust Fund, c/o Erin Dakin Drake, 38310 Clay Gully Road, Myakka City, FL 34251.
