+ Half marathon yields temporary road closure
Runners in the Suncoast Half Marathon will make their way through the Lakewood Ranch community, traveling through parts of Summerfield, Riverwalk and all three sections of the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club, Sunday, Jan. 27. Hidden River Trail will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5 to 8:30 a.m.
+ Serenity Creek Subdivision to expand
The Manatee County Planning Commission unanimously approved an expansion of the Serenity Creek Subdivision in East County.
The addition of 26 lots on .86 acres of land on the east side of Pope Road, south of State Road 64, serves as a corrective rezoning to add lots that were inadvertently left off the original rezone, said Rossina Leider, senior development review specialist for the project.
Single-family residential lots will increase from 85 to 111.
Leider said the expansion of Serenity Creek, a project by Meritage Homes of Florida, is a logical expansion of the previous Planned Development Residential (PDR).
Compatible to other projects in the area, the project sits on open space and is low density, Leider said.
