Ranch celebrates Festival of Lights

East County residents gathered on Lakewood Ranch Main Street for the sixth annual grand Hanukkah celebration hosted by the Chabad of Bradenton & Lakewood Ranch Thursday. Festivities included live music, face painting, concessions, a Dreidel House and a grand Menorah lighting ceremony, among others.

Vitale brings Christmas thrills to local children

Christmas came early for eight members of the Boys & Girls Club who were invited to attend Lakewood Ranch resident and ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale and his wife Lorraine's annual Christmas party Dec. 15 at his home. The children enjoyed a late lunch, toured the Vitale home, visited with Santa Claus and opened Christmas presents, among other activities.
Pirates unveil minor league name and logo

Major and minor league players from the Pittsburgh Pirates' organization were on hand to help unveil the name and logo of the Pirates' new Minor League franchise team during a community block party Dec. 15 on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch. The new Pirates Florida State League team will now be known as the Bradenton Marauders. Following the announcement, players greeted fans, signed autographs and posed for pictures.
