Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested the suspect who robbed two men at gunpoint Dec. 19.
According to sheriff's office reports, 21-year-old Alexander Drecospulled a gun on two men who came to purchase drugs from him and later became violent toward deputies. Two men, named only as Kenny and Christopher, went to an apartment in Summer Cove to purchase from Drecos around 3 p.m., Saturday.
When the men arrived at the apartment, Decos opened the door and pointed a gun a Christopher’s head and demanded they time him their money. Kenny and Christopher complied, handing over $825 and their cell phones, the report states.
Decos threatened to shoot them and then closed the door. Kenneth ran to the office, where he called 911. Deputies initially were told the suspect was still inside the apartment with the lawful resident, an elderly female, the report states.
Deputies decided to enter the apartment using a key provided by the assistant property manager. No one was in the apartment.
After speaking with neighbors, deputies waited at the apartment complex until a white hatchback vehicle drove up to the apartment and parked. Deputies approached the driver, and while they were talking to its occupants, Drecos arrived and asked to put the cell phones in the center console of the hatchback.
The driver signed a multi-waiver for consent to search his vehicle, and at that time, Drecos’ behavior became erratic, and he was identified as a suspect. He was handcuffed and placed inside a patrol car, where he shouted and kicked the car door with his head and feet and later tried to kick a deputy.
He was transported to Manatee County Jail. Two un-prescribed Xanax pills were found on the seat where Drecos had been sitting.
