The Manatee County Chapter of the American Red Cross has nominated Lakewood Ranch developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch as Corporate Philanthropist of the Year.
Bobbi Larson, spokesperson for the Manatee Chapter, said SMR was nominated because of its generous contributions to the community, including donation of land for the Red Cross’s mid-county service Center in Lakewood Ranch, and for its involvement with the Red Cross through participation on the board or on leadership committees.
“They’ve done that for us, but they’ve done that for many other organizations in Manatee County,” Larson said. “They did that for the YMCA. They factored in for schools. They donated the land for the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and United Way building and so much more than that.”
The award is being given as part on National Philanthropy Day, which is sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Larson said.
SMR will learn at the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon Nov. 17 at Michael’s On East whether it has won in its category.
