Willis principals spend day on school's roof

Willis Elementary School Principal Bill Stenger and Assistant Principal Lynne Menard proved a stimulus package doesn’t have to include putting the country in into further debt.
Earlier this year, the administrators challenged their school community during its Walk-A-Thon fundraiser. If the school raised more money than it did last year, both Stenger and Menard would spend a day on the roof.
Students and their families responded and raised more than $38,000 — all of which will be used at Willis.
And true to their word, Stenger and Menard climbed the ladder up to the roof hatch at 8 a.m. this morning to greet students as they arrived.
“The view is wonderful,” Menard said.
Stenger agreed, noting that he could see clear to downtown Sarasota from the roof.
