The Lakewood Ranch High School Marching Band took top honors Oct. 31 at the Music on the Move competition at North Port High School.
The band placed first in its division and took home the title of Grand Champions of the competition.
This weekend, Lakewood hosts its annual Music in Motion competition beginning at 6 p.m., Nov. 7, at the high school, 5500 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. The competition will feature performances from 10 different bands in addition to an exhibition by Lakewood and performances by Florida Brass and the University of South Florida drumline.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
