Nothing is official, but a local company is working on plans to bring an indoor multi-sports complex to Lakewood Ranch.
GoodSports Enterprises, part of group of companies that specializes in the development, construction and management of hotels, water parks and recreation facilities, is developing plans for a indoor basketball facility, hotel and water park in the East County.
"We're in the planning (stages and are) negotiating with Lakewood Ranch about building a GoodSports facility," said Steve Shulla, who is leading the GoodSports Village project. "It'll be a hotel and a large indoor, multi-sports facility. There's a lot of synergies with the activities that occur out there."
Rex Jensen, president and CEO of Lakewood Ranch developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, confirmed GoodSports is working to purchase about 20 acres of land off Rangeland Parkway, but there are no contracts in place at this time.
