The Manatee County School Board, the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners, the City of Bradenton and the City of Palmetto will all honor Manatee Technical Institute this week for winning the SkillsUSA National Championship for six consecutive years.
As a result, Wednesday, Sept. 30, is officially being proclaimed as “MTI Day.”
To celebrate this special day, MTI will hold an Open House at both campuses from noon to 3 p.m. Many activities will be open to the public, to all students and to family and friends. The main event will be MTI’s Amazing Race and Open House at the Main Campus, 5603 34th St. W., Bradenton. The East Campus Open House will be located at 5520 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Lakewood Ranch.
“The excitement is growing on both campuses as we draw closer to our Open House,” said Jane von Hahmann, business and industry service specialist for the School District of Manatee County. “It is such an honor to have this day officially designated ‘MTI Day’ in Manatee County. We invite everyone to participate in a day of celebration and to visit the great programs we have to offer.”
At the race, teams of four participants will follow a map, solve clues, and compete for prizes. Each member of the first place team will receive a $50 gift card. Each member of the next four teams to finish will receive a $15 iTunes gift card. Gifts are provided by the MTI Foundation.
During the open house, all MTI programs will be open to visit. MTI Day will provide the opportunity to learn about the school and the post-secondary education opportunities that MTI has to offer.
