Sandi Stewart, CEO of Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. has announced her retirement to become effective on February 1, 2010. Stewart has served 23 years with Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida Inc.
Stewart first served as a volunteer for Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida Inc., then as finance director and currently as CEO, a position she has held since 1998. She led a $7.8 million capital campaign resulting in the two highly recognized Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified facilities on the Searcy G. Koen Regional Girl Scout Campus of Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida Inc. in Sarasota. During her tenure, Stewart has increased membership of the organization 40% and has ensured financial stability even through tough economic times.
“I am honored to have positively influenced the lives of more than 100,000 girls during my Girl Scout career,” she said. “I have enjoyed helping girls discover who they are and reach their full potential to make a difference in their community.”
The Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida Inc. currently is searching for a leader who can continue with the same passion for youth, commitment to service, structure of leadership, and talent for fundraising. Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida Inc. serves more than 11,000 girls in 10 counties in Southwest Florida.
