State Rep. Bill Galvano will be the keynote speaker for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine — Bradenton’s Constitution Day ceremonies at 10 a.m., Sept. 17, at the campus, 5000 Lakewood Ranch Blvd.
An attorney with Grimes, Goebel, Grimes, Hawkins, Gladfelter and Galvano, Galvano concentrates his practice in the areas of civil trial practice, commercial litigation, government relations at the county and municipal level, and eminent domain as well as representing clients in commercial and business transactions.
Galvano was elected in 2002 as a member of the Florida House of Representatives for District 68 and continues to serve in that capacity.
Constitution Day is an American federal holiday that recognizes the ratification of the U.S. Constitution. It is observed on Sept. 17, the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the document in 1787. The law establishing Constitution Day as a holiday was created in 2004.

Dancing group to host fundraiser

Members of KC and the Sunshine Dancers, a group of Manatee County dancers ages 8 to 20, will show off their dancing skills in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance from 7 to 9 p.m. May 28, as the group holds a show titled "Breaking Ground."
