Local teenager Sierra Johnson, a member of Journey Assembly of God Church, died Thursday of injuries sustained in a Sept. 8 automobile accident.
'We are so grateful for all of the people who have stood with us in prayer, friendship, love and sacrificial giving for Sierra during the most difficult past few days for our family," Sierra's family said in a statement released by the church.
Memorial service plans are being made today, a church official said.
Sierra and six other teenagers were injured Sept. 8, on their way to a concert in Orlando, when a tire blew out on the van in which they were riding, causing the vehicle to be flipped.
One other teenager remains hospitalized. The others have been released.
A candlelight vigil slated for Saturday has been canceled.
