Two brothers are stable after the younger brother accidentally shot them both while disassembling their father's gun.
According to Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports, Logan, 17, and Randall Ashley, 20, were playing XBOX at about 12:34 a.m. this morning in their Sabal Harbour home in the 4800 block of Bookelia Circle. Logan Ashley picked up their deceased father's gun and attempted to disassemble it. He thought he removed the magazine from the firearm but did not clear its chamber. As he attempted to remove the slide, he depressed the trigger, the reports said.
The 9 mm round hit Logan Ashley's left leg. It exited the other side and entered Randall Ashley's right leg.
Emergency Medical Services officials responded and stabilized both brothers before transporting them to the hospital.
