Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Bradenton is readying to usher in a new class of medical students.
An open house is scheduled for the Class of 2013 from 9 a.m. to noon, July 26.
More than 162 students, of which more than half are from Florida, will report to class July 27.
"With Florida being hit the hardest with the physician shortage, it is our hope that by recruiting more students from Florida, we will be able to train them and have them stay in-state for their post-graduate training," LECOM Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Robert George said.
Second-year medical students will start classes Aug. 3, and pharmacy students will report back Aug. 24.
